Electrical Hardware Technician
ABOUT THIS FEATURED OPPORTUNITY
Help us drive testing and quality control on AR/VR prototypes that have not gone to market yet! We’re looking for a high-impact Electrical Hardware Technician with experience in small electronic devices to work on the assembly line. The ideal candidate would have past prototype or assembly line experience, and familiarity with mechanical measurement devices to perform a quality control sampling plan on detail parts. You’ll work with electronic analysis tools to perform a systemic quality control of electronic assemblies.
THE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU
- Rework and Repair
- Assess condition of returned units and confirm failure mode
- Run the unit through a prescribed set of functional tests depending on reported defect, and perform failure analysis to determine root cause
- Strategically disassemble the unit, guided by SOPs, and perform a visual inspection of systems that might be related to the failure symptom
- Perform component/module exchanges in an attempt to isolate the failure
- Document the work performed on each unit in a thorough, consistent manner
- Prototype Assembly
- Perform delicate assembly of devices, following defined SOPs
- Electrical assembly and testing using specialized electronic equipment
- Mechanical assembly testing using calibrated measurement tools
- Calibrate/test/flash prototype electronic devices
- Assist the wider Technical Services team with assembly work
- General Skills
- Adapt to a daily changing statement of work
- Prioritize and balance multiple tasks to complete a given statement of work
- Reach out to responsible design engineers for troubleshooting, clarification, and feedback
- Willingness to propose and implement process improvements to increase production efficiency
- Proficient use of text, photos, and videos to clearly convey assembly processes to others with close attention paid to spelling and grammar to ensure findings are accurately communicated to others within the organization
- Seek feedback for continuous improvement
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
- Hand soldering skills with 0201 required (01005 preferred)
- Experience troubleshooting and modifying circuit boards and small electronic equipment used in consumer electronics
- Past experience troubleshooting and testing prototypes and VR hardware
- Past experience troubleshooting and testing PCBA and FPC hardware
- Experience with soldering using microscopes and camera-based inspection equipment
- Familiarity with OrCAD/Allegro and other EE hardware design
- Assist with scaled prototype assembly and small pre-production units in varying numbers, as well as electronic component addition/modification/replacement as needed
