ABOUT THIS FEATURED OPPORTUNITY:
You will be joining a computer networking company headquartered in Santa Clara, California. The company designs and sells multilayer network switches to deliver software-defined networking solutions for large datacenter, cloud computing, high-performance computing, and high-frequency trading environments.

This person is needed to help communicate with the design team and suppliers to make sure they get the correct components as well as bridge the communication between the design team and suppliers to fix any bugs/issues that arise.

THE OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU:

The company's hardware product portfolio continues to grow, and as a result there is an increased need for Component Engineering support. This person is needed to help communicate with the design team, component suppliers, NPIE and Supply Management to make sure they have the correct components used for the design, as well as bridge the communication between the design team and suppliers to fix any bugs/issues that arise.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS:

Must Have:

  1.  3-5 years experience as a Component Engineer for a hardware OEM
    • Come from a Network System level company or datacenter OEM (Cisco, Microsoft, Juniper, Google, Oracle, Etc..), or
    • Come from a Consumer Product company, focused on hardware (Apple, Dell, HP, Etc.)
  2.  Experience working directly with suppliers
  3. Understand the manufacturing side of these systems (HW Quality, Component DPPM, Component qualification requirements, stress testing)
  4. Experience with Agile or a Cloud PDM tool is helpful

Plus:

  1. Ability to drive and manage themselves. They will frequently be their own boss, but work within the Component Engineering team and your peer groups at company

Day to Day:

He/She will be part of the Central Engineering organization providing HW product design engineers with component options (finding different options for parts/vendors), and reviewing their selections to ensure multi-sourcing and de-risking. They must have an understanding of BOMs (Bill of Materials). He/She will have to communicate with the designers and suppliers to discuss issues that arise during early prototype builds. He/She will be reviewing and approving change notifications from suppliers. He/She will be collaborating with the team to discuss best practices and suggest new processes. He/she will take initiative to find new parts/vendors and teach others in the team. He/She will be responsible for authoring MCOs and helping to process PCNs and contribute to the BOM Risk Review process.
